Dr. Jiao-Zhong Gu is the Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of FEi Systems. As President and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Gu is responsible for the overall vision, long-term strategy, and financial well-being of FEi Systems. Dr. Gu has more than 20 years of technical experience in data modeling, business process modeling, system simulations, relational database design, and expert system design. Dr. Gu founded FEi Systems in 1999, with a focus on building behavioral health IT systems and supporting clinical research initiatives. Dr. Gu has grown the company from a vigorous start-up to a robust and mature organization with more than 300 full-time employees.
Dr. Gu leveraged relationships with federal, state, and international health care leaders to broaden FEi System’s business into multiple strategic markets. These include an industry-leading behavioral health Electronic Health Record (EHR) solution and an integrated electronic Long Term Services and Supports (eLTSS) product line. He also developed a successful long-term partnership with the US Department of Health and Human Services, helping government clients meet their evolving requirements for health information technology. FEi Systems is expanding to other areas, including defense and Veterans health and global health.
Under Dr. Gu’s guidance, FEi Systems has become a mature organization at the vanguard of health information technology, services, and analysis. As evidence, FEi Systems has achieved Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Maturity Level 3 certification, which guides process improvement over the organization. Today, Dr. Gu leads an organization of professionals with expertise in health IT, healthcare, behavioral health, and research, who work closely with Federal, state, local, and international governments and research institutions to help them maximize health information technology to effectively provide health services to their constituents.
Dr. Gu earned a PhD in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University and a Master of Science in Industrial and Management Engineering from Montana State University. He was an Exchange Scholar at the University of Maryland University College. Previously, Dr. Gu earned a Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering from the Northwestern Polytechnic University in Xian, China.
