Jiao-Zhong Gu, PhD has more than 30 years of broad experience in system engineering, industrial marketing, organizational development, and public health IT. Dr. Gu founded FEI in 1999 with a humble contract to develop a clinical research lab system for Johns Hopkins University. He has grown FEI from a modest start-up to a robust organization with more than 400 full-time employees—all focused on providing health IT solutions to government health and human services. He has leveraged relationships with federal, state, and international health care leaders to expand the company’s business into multiple strategic markets. These include the industry-leading behavioral health electronic health record solution Web Infrastructure for Treatment Services (WITS), implemented in more than 30 states and counties, and an integrated Long-Term Services and Support (LTSS) product line in seven states. Under Dr. Gu’s leadership, FEI has been awarded mission-critical health IT contracts across the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Defense, the Department of Veteran Affairs, and other agencies. Dr. Gu earned a PhD in Industrial Engineering, a Master of Science in Industrial and Management Engineering, and a Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering. Before founding FEI, Dr. Gu served as the Lead Architect and System Analyst for the FAA National Air Safety and Analysis Center for Macfadden and Associates.
